A man has been jailed for more than three years for supplying cannabis in Fenland.

Cambridgeshire police say the discovery came to light after Halil Akyuz (27) was found to be the passenger in a black Ford Focus that was stopped by police in Bridge Street, Chatteris, on August 26, 2023.

A police spokesperson said the car was of interest to police as it had previously failed to stop for officers.

He said that Akyuz was arrested and his phone seized and that an analysis of the device revealed photographs and videos of cannabis, including it being grown, as well as screenshots of large financial transfers, high value watches, and bundles of cash.

Akyuz, of Treeway, Chatteris, denied being concerned in the supply of cannabis and acquiring criminal property, but he was found guilty following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in November.

He was jailed for three years and six months at the same court on February 13.
