Jail for thief who stole copper pipes from Subway branch in Peterborough before going on a "shoplifting spree"

A man who stole copper pipes from an industrial unit at a takeaway has been ordered to pay more than £6000 in compensation.

Cambridgeshire Police said Manuel Sa De Sousa, 40, and an accomplice stole the piping from Subway, in Bretton, Peterborough, at just before midnight on 12 September.

“The damage cost a substantial amount of money to repair and resulted in the shop losing stock in failed freezers,” a force spokesperson explained.

“Sa De Sousa, of no fixed address, then went on a shoplifting spree where he targeted the BP filling station in Bretton on 13 occasions between 24 November and 9 January.”
