Abuser who told his former partner she 'wasn’t going to live anymore' is jailed
An abuser who told his former partner she “wasn’t going to live anymore” while brandishing knives has been jailed.
Cambridgeshire police say that Gediminas Jankauskas (35) of Savory Road, Wisbech, had became increasingly jealous and controlling during his relationship with the victim.
A police spokesperson said that Jankauskas had returned home drunk one evening and began shouting, swearing and smashing items in the kitchen.
The spokesperson said: “The victim, who was upstairs, watched him take two knives from a drawer before he began directing abuse towards her, telling her she “wasn’t going to live anymore” and that it was the “last day for you today”.

"Fearing for her life, she locked herself in a bedroom and called 999 at about 10.30pm.
“Jankauskas repeatedly tried to force his way into the room by barging the door with his shoulder and kicking it.
"While the victim hid inside, a family member attempted to intervene, but Jankauskas threatened to push her down the stairs.
"Officers arrived minutes later and arrested him.”
Police also said that Jankauskas had frequently demanded to know where she was, insisting she video called him so he could see who she was with and had regularly shouted at her and subjected her to physical abuse, including slapping and punching.
The spokesperson said: “On one occasion, he threatened to stab her with a pair of scissors.
“As his controlling behaviour escalated, the victim gradually stopped seeing family and friends in an attempt to avoid conflict.”
Jankauskas was sentenced to three years and five months in prison after admitting two counts of threats to kill and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship at Huntingdon Law Courts.
He was also made subject to a seven-year restraining order.
Afterwards, DC Olga Senkova, who investigated, said: “Jankauskas subjected the victim to a prolonged campaign of controlling, coercive and violent behaviour, isolating her from those closest to her and leaving her living in fear.
“When the victim made the brave decision to end the relationship, his behaviour escalated further, with threats to kill her while armed with knives.
"It is difficult to imagine how terrifying this ordeal must have been for her.
“I’d like to commend the victim for her courage throughout the investigation and court proceedings.
"I hope this sentence provides her with some reassurance.
