Fresh plans for 250 new homes in Peterborough village

Fresh plans to create 250 new homes in a Peterborough village have been brought forward.

The plans concerns land off Peakirk Road in Glinton and have been put forward by Persimmon Homes and Charles Church Homes.

Of the proposed 250 homes, around 75 of these would be offered as affordable homes, including affordable rent and shared ownership.

These homes will be a mix of one to five bedrooms, with five percent of them being built to wheelchair adaptable standards.

Plans also state that the scheme would “provide significant new green infrastructure including a neighbourhood park, natural green space and children’s play facilities."

The developer will also pay costs which will fund improvements to the A15 and Glinton roundabout.

In April 2024, an outline planning application was submitted for the development but this was rejected with planning officers claiming that the development would have resulted in the “erosion of the countryside gap” between Glinton and Peakirk.

A total of 137 objections were received to the original plans with concerns regarding a lack of adequate infrastructure, scale and traffic issues raised.

This decision was then overturned on appeal when in January 2026, the Secretary of State announced that its Planning Inspectorate had upheld the appeal.

A public consultation will be held at Glinton Village Hall on November 3 from 2:40pm to 6:15pm.
