In the final part of our three-part focus on Broadway we feature some more scenes through the years of one of Peterborough city centre’s main streets.

Always a key location for the city’s entertainment sector, there are pictures of old theatres – the Broadway Kinema and the Hippodrome.

Two other pictures focus on the retail sector. One shows shoppers out and about in 1978 with the row of shops roughly where today’s library is.

The picture of the Tesco store is from a decade later in 1988.

There is a picture of the former Reed’s Garage which as the sign reveals was soon to become the home of a new press for the Peterborough Citizen and Advertiser.

The final picture is an undated street scene but looks early 20th century.
