Looking Back: NHS disputes are nothing new
The current doctors dispute reminded me of my 1982 Bridge Street picture of nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, kitchen, domestics, porters, office, maintenance and laboratory staff campaigning to improve low pay, writes street photographer Chris Porsz.
It is also a reminder that these things are nothing new. Looking beyond the demonstrators, older readers will remember Visionhire, Eastern Electricity, Currys, Lavells and Foster Brothers on Bridge Street.

This was before pedestrianisation and its lovely now to see the beautiful English Plane trees.
