A number of year 10 pupils have been told to stay at home and isolate as a result of the test, which was confirmed earlier this week.

A spokesman for academy did not confirm how many youngsters were self isolating, but said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and the wider Academy community is our top priority which is why, after confirming a positive case of COVID-19 within the Academy, we acted immediately and worked closely alongside Public Health England and the local health authority to ensure the necessary steps and precautions were taken.

“As a result, part of our Year 10 cohort is now self-isolating as a precautionary measure. Our contact tracing and robust health, safety and hygiene measures have allowed us to effectively respond to this case and ensure the Academy continues to be safe for all other pupils and staff.

“We will continue to be in regular contact with pupils, parents and staff to provide reassurance, up-to-date information and assistance with remote learning, and encourage anyone with concerns to contact the Academy directly so that we can provide the necessary support.”
