Coronavirus round-up in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire after day of developments

Here is a round-up of what has happened:
. The day began with the news that Peterborough United matches are set to be played behind closed doors.
Although the decision to postpone matches has not yet been made, meaning Posh’s match with Bolton on Saturday will go ahead, Posh boss Darren Ferguson called on the authorities to postpone fixtures instead.

Hide Ad. Meanwhile, there have been confirmed cases involving a patient at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, which treats people from across the county, and another involving a paramedic at the East of England Ambulance Service, which treats patients in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.
. Closer to home, Peterborough Citizens Advice said it has suspended face-to-face drop-in sessions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The Peterborough & Stamford Macular Society Support Group has also suspended its forthcoming meetings, beginning with one scheduled for March 24.
. Nationally, the Government today announced people with a “continuous cough and/or high temperature” need to stay at home and self-isolate for a week.

Hide Ad. And on a slightly different note, an award-winning restaurant in Peterborough which has seen business take a hit decided to begin offering takeaways from today - and the orders have been flocking in.
So far there has been one confirmed case of coronavirus in Cambridgeshire, but none in Peterborough.
Nationally, 10 people with the virus have now died.
It was announced today that the UK is now in the ‘delay’ phase of the coronavirus action plan.
