From September mixed Year 3 and 4 classes will open at Hampton Lakes Primary School, as well as a nursery.

The free school in Hampton Gardens - which opened in 2019 - is run by the Hampton Academies Trust.

Its opening was delayed due to the collapse of contractors Carillion, which meant pupils were temporarily accommodated at Hampton College Primary School while the new school building was constructed.

Head of school Zoe Twigg said: “I am unreserved in my thanks to the team of amazingly passionate people I work with for all their support in making this happen.

“Mr Kingsley, chair of the trust, Dr Price, CEO, and Mrs Behan, COO, in consultation with Mrs Cross, chair of the local governing body, and all the members of the HL governing body who have spent considerable time looking for a solution to secure the growing need for school places within Hampton.

“I have promised you all an exciting learning journey and I intend to uphold this. I have loved working with you and cannot wait to see the next phase of our development unfold.”

The school has received requests for Year 3 and 4 places from 23 parents, with September seeing the first eight and nine year olds joining.

Ms Twigg added: “I think this is fantastic news for the local community and I am really looking forward to beginning to work with our new families.”
