Claire Everton, headteacher at Welbourne Primary Academy, said: “Today, Friday 15th May, following discussions with Public Health England, we took the decision to close Welbourne Primary Academy on a temporary basis following a positive Covid-19 test result for one member of our educational staff.
“We are taking this matter very seriously and a thorough deep clean of the school will take place over the weekend. A small number of children, their families and members of staff who have accessed the educational provision have been informed and told to self-isolate for 14 days.
“We have been following strict guidance on social distancing where possible and daily infection control cleaning has been taking place. We will keep in contact with Thomas Deacon Education Trust, Peterborough City Council and Public Health England and hope to re-open the school on Monday 18th May to support our key worker and vulnerable children.”
