Coronavirus: Every school closure in Peterborough and the surrounding areas as colleges end face-to-face teaching

A number of schools have today (Tuesday) announced they are closing either fully or partially due to the coronavirus, largely due to a shortage of staff.

Many pupils will have an extended Easter, with some not returning until April 20, although schools will continue to make sure they are learning in their spare time.

Below is the list of school closures confirmed by Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council, as well as those verified by the Peterborough Telegraph separately.

Arthur Mellows Village College (open to Years 11 and 13)

City of Peterborough Academy (partial closure)

Greater Peterborough UTC

Hampton College - (open to Years 11 and 13 only)

Hampton Gardens - closed (Year 13 sent to Hampton College)

Marshfields Special School

Queen Katherine Academy - (open to Years 7, 11, 12 and 13 only)

St John Fisher School - (open to Years 11 and 13 only)

Thomas Deacon Academy - (open to Years 7, 11, 12 and 13 only)

Newark Hill Academy - closed for Reception and Year 3

Ken Stimpson Community School - (open for Year 7, Year 11 and Years 12-14)

Marshfields Special School (partial closures)

Medeshamstede Special School (partial closures)

Stanground Academy (Year 7 to 10 off).

Cambridgeshire

Moreover, The Deepings School said it will only be open for Year 7, Year 11 and Year 13.

Meanwhile, Peterborough Regional College and University Centre Peterborough have announced they are stopping face-to-face teaching from Wednesday.

Staff and students will come in tomorrow to use the day to prepare for online learning, with working from home beginning next week.

Anglia Ruskin University has already announced it is suspending face-to-face activities.
