The area surrounding the centre’s grade II watermill, which re-opened after a £1.8m restoration project in July, will be transformed into a hive of rural activity as it delves into food and farming at its finest this Saturday and Sunday.

Get hands on with activities such as milling, corn plaiting, apple scrumping and pressing, drop spinning and willow weaving.

Sacrewell is working with a number of local organisations such as Peterborough Environment City Trust and The Green Backyard for a range of farming and harvest based activities.

Peterborough Beekeepers will also be there, judging their annual honey show.

Over the course of the weekend, Sacrewell will be getting ready to plant one of the fields farmed by its tenant farmers Riverford Organic, using a horse-drawn plough which you’ll be able to see as part of its free tractor tours taking place throughout the weekend.

There will also be lots of farm machinery on display throughout the weekend for visitors to have a look at and maybe even sit in.

There will also be live music on Saturday.

Sacrewell is open from 9.30am to 5pm every day. Under twos visit free. Some activities may incur a small surcharge.
