Carol Wakelin, the centre’s environmental manager, said: “We’re pleased to have received recognition for our Travel Plan, we work hard to ensure we have effective and achievable initiatives. We are committed to maintaining a low carbon footprint.”

Carol was also personally recognised for her hard work on the sustainability agenda when she was shortlisted for the Rising Star Award 2016. She made it to the final six out of hundreds of candidates across the environmental industry nationally.

Chris Hanley, senior technical leader for transportation at Atkins, who works closely with Peterborough City Council’s Travelchoice team, said: “Carol and the team at Queensgate have been working extremely hard this year.

“Not only have they produced an up-to-date Travel Plan and surveyed staff on their travel behaviour, but there has been real action on the ground in terms of a number of engagement events for both staff and visitors.

“They have rolled out a number of new electric vehicle charging bays and supported businesses, such as John Lewis, to run their own travel plan sessions for staff.”
