Opening of new Peterborough Burger King drive-thru in place of Frankie & Benny's moves closer
The opening of a new Burger King drive-thru in Peterborough is moving closer.
A new branch of Burger King will open later this year at the Boongate Retail Park; opposite The Range, B&M and Smyths Toys.
The new restaurant will be taking the place of the former Frankie & Benny's, which closed in the summer of 2023.
Signage has now appeared all around the building and retail park and new road markings have been painted to point drivers the correct way into the drive-thru.

As part of plans to encourage more drivers to the retail park, the new restaurant is planned to have a drive-thru. To achieve this, a minor reconfiguration of the car park is required to create the drive-thru and would result in the loss of nine spaces.
There will also be two spaces for a waiting area and two spaces for ‘click and collect.’
The planning application states: “The drive-thru lane will wrap around the existing restaurant unit. This includes associated infrastructure, including a height restrictor, menu boards, ordering point and grill bays.”
The application was first approved in 2024 but it has taken until this summer for works to actually begin. In April, an application for an extension of the time in which to deliver the plans was granted.

The Peterborough Telegraph has contacted Burger King to find about more about the exact opening date but work in continuing at a pace and electronic boards inside the building are already operational.
Burger King currently has three other location in Peterborough: Maskew Avenue, Serpentine Green Shopping Centre and Queensgate.
