Chunky soup and roll at local care home

Hickathrift House care home in Marshland St James will open its doors to members of the local senior community as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle loneliness and bring people together.
On Wednesday 17th December, from 12.30pm to 2pm, seniors from the surrounding area are warmly invited to join residents and the team at Hickathrift House for a hearty bowl of chunky soup served with a roll.
Guests enjoyed their meal in the home’s welcoming café area, with plenty of opportunity to chat with staff and residents while sharing good food and company.
The event formed part of Barchester Healthcare’s Don’t Dine Alone initiative, designed to reach out to isolated or vulnerable members of the community. The initiative encourages friendship, conversation, and connection over a shared meal.

Sarah Sage, Acting General Manager at Hickathrift House, said: “Loneliness can be a real challenge for older people, especially during the colder months. We are delighted to welcome new friends into our home and provide a warm, friendly space where everyone can feel part of the community.”
