Photo reveals extent of lorry fire on A1 near Peterborough as road remains partially closed

A lorry fire has closed a section of the A1 near Peterborough this morning (Tuesday, July 14).

The southbound carriageway between Carpenters Lodge is currently closed after a fire involving a HGC earlier this morning.

The A1’s northbound carriageway was initially closed but has since reopened.

According to National Highways, motorists can expect delays of 60 minutes and are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

A photo of the scene shared by Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service showed the charred remains of a lorry parked in a layby.
