Stagecoach East supports second Peterborough organisation working to protect women and girls

Peterborough’s biggest bus operator, Stagecoach East, has made a second £250 donation to an organisation, in the city, that works to support women and girls who have suffered from domestic abuse.

Living Keys is a grassroots organisation that provides free courses from women and girls, including the Freedom Programme, Hope2Recovery, and the Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit. It also provides a drop-in service for people who need extra help and assistance, as well as one-to-one support sessions for those going through particularly tough times, such as when they need to go to court. Thanks to their team of volunteers, Living Keys has been able to support over 600 women in the past five years.

The move comes just days after the local bus operator announced that it had made a similar grant to Peterborough Women’s Aid.

Linda Huskisson, Founder and Chief Executive of Living Keys will be receiving the Kings Award for Voluntary Services - the equivalent to an MBE - later this month. She said: “Thank you to Stagecoach for your wonderful donation. It is so appreciated and will be used to support the work we continue to do, to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, added: “We are very proud to be able to make this second donation. As a local bus operator, we see the important work that so many local organisations make to our community, so we really wanted to do something that would help them. They are essential parts of our community and deserve to be recognised and supported as such.”

Every year, Stagecoach runs its Tell Me survey to canvass the opinions of its team nationally. Stagecoach East gives donations to important local organisation, based on the number of responses received at its depots across the region.
