Residents from The Cedars pay visit to the zoo
Residents from The Cedars Care Home in Bourne were filled with joy during their visit to Hamerton Zoo Park last week.

Doreen, Margaret, Ann and Sheila had a truly memorable day at the zoo. Supported by volunteers Casey and Tegan Woolsey, Clinical Lead Tonde Maka, and activity team members, they spent the morning marvelling at zebras, owls, meerkats and so many others that we can't list them all! Then after a delicious picnic made by our very talented home chef Hemanta; we listened to some interesting and informative talks as the bears and cheetahs were fed. Seeing the cheetah run for Ann was 'the highlight' of the day, as was seeing so many animals that we have never seen before, including a beautiful white tiger.
The trip was arranged in response to a request from residents Sheila and Doreen, who were thrilled to see their dreams come true! A trip out is always made more special when it can be shared with friends- and the residents enjoyed every second- the most frequently uttered words were ‘what a day!!’

Rebecca Aldred, senior General Manager of The Cedars Care Home said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their day out at the zoo. Trips out in the homes mini bus are a regular event for the residents, and we always ask for ideas on where they would best like to go. The day was a lot of fun, and we had great weather for the outing.”
