Peterborough care home residents open the red book on beauty industry icon Dame Eve Taylor
Residents at Hampton Grove Care Home in Peterborough enjoyed a very special trip down memory lane as they celebrated the extraordinary life and achievements of internationally renowned skincare pioneer Dame Eve Taylor OBE.
Inspired by the television programme This Is Your Life, residents were treated to their very own version of the iconic show, complete with the famous red book, as they discovered the remarkable story behind one of our residents and the beauty industry’s most respected names.
The morning was filled with fascinating stories, conversation and admiration as residents explored Eve’s journey, from the beginnings of her career to building a successful business and creating a lasting legacy in the world of professional skincare.
There was plenty of curiosity, with residents asking Eve questions about how she first established her business, the challenges she faced along the way and the secrets behind her remarkable success.
One particularly special part of the morning was hearing that, despite her many achievements, Eve continues to visit her office once a week to spend time with her staff a wonderful reflection of her passion, commitment and the personal relationships she has built throughout her career.
Residents were also fascinated to learn about Eve’s recognition of her contribution to her industry. She was awarded an OBE in 2008 and, in 2024, received the even greater honour of being made a Dame.
But the morning wasn’t just about celebrating professional achievements. Eve also took time to give residents some individual attention, treating them to relaxing hand massages and bringing a little touch of luxury, pampering and wellbeing to the occasion.
It was a beautiful opportunity for residents to hear a first hand account of an extraordinary life, celebrate a woman who has achieved so much and enjoy some special moments together.
Stefan Lupu , General Manager said “What a privilege it was to celebrate Eve’s incredible story. Our residents were genuinely fascinated by her journey, and it was wonderful to see the questions, conversations and admiration that followed. Hearing about her achievements directly from Eve made the experience even more special. We wanted to celebrate not just the successful businesswoman, but the person behind the name. The hand massages were the perfect finishing touch to a truly memorable morning.”
The famous red book may have closed, but the inspiration from Eve’s story will certainly stay with everyone at Hampton Grove.
A remarkable life, an inspiring legacy and a very special morning to remember.
