Octogenarian Bayleaf Care Home resident celebrates his birthday in style
“It is wonderful and such a privilege to be able to celebrate this occasion with John"
Celebrations were in full swing at Bayleaf Care Home as one of its beloved residents, John Whelan, marked his 80th birthday surrounded by family, friends and fellow residents.

To commemorate this remarkable milestone, staff at Bayleaf Care Home organised a special trip out followed by a birthday lunch filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
The festivities continued as staff and residents joined John in his room to sing ‘Happy Birthday’, followed by the cutting of a beautifully prepared birthday cake, lovingly crafted by the home’s chef. It was a day to remember honouring a truly special man and he becomes an octogenarian.

John said ‘I cannot believe how much attention I have received today. I don’t normally like a fuss but this is a day that I will never forget and I am so grateful to so many people’.
Katie Wilkinson, General Manager at Bayleaf Care Home, said: “It is wonderful and such a privilege to be able to celebrate this occasion with John. Days like these mean so much to our residents who love life and enjoy having fun.”
