Laxton Junior School dog show raises over £500 for Ugandan school

Alongside the judging, visitors enjoyed an agility course, homemade refreshments and stalls, creating a lively atmosphere on the school grounds. Children were also given the chance to learn more about animal care at a stall run by Oundle Vets, which proved to be a highlight for many younger visitors.

All proceeds from the event went to Tasaaga Primary School in Uganda, Laxton Junior School’s long‑standing partner school. The funds raised will help support pupils at Tasaaga through improved educational resources and learning opportunities, strengthening an international link that has been built over many years.

The dog show is a regular fixture in the school calendar and reflects the school’s emphasis on community involvement, kindness and global awareness.

The success of the event highlights how local initiatives can make a lasting impact well beyond the local area, while also offering pupils valuable lessons about teamwork, responsibility and social action.

With strong attendance, generous donations and plenty of smiling faces, both human and canine, this year’s Community Dog Show once again demonstrated the power of bringing people together for a shared cause.

Many thanks to Tess Humphreys, Modern Languages teacher at Laxton Junior School, for organising the much loved event.
