Huntingdon charities scoop hundreds in supermarket sweep-style dash
“It was such a fun experience but it will make a real difference to the people we support. Every item will go straight to those who need it most"
Two local charities were given the chance to grab vital supplies in a high-speed ‘store dash’ event at Huntingdon convenience stores – picking up hundreds of pounds worth of goods in just 60 seconds.

The supermarket sweep-style challenge took place at Premier Post Street and Premier Hinchingbrooke to mark the launch of a new home delivery service in partnership with Snappy Shopper.
At the Post Street Store, Rebecca from Godmanchester & Huntingdon Foodbank raced the clock to collect £126.77 worth of essential items, helping support local individuals and families facing hardship.

Speaking after the dash, Rebecca said: “It was such a fun experience but it will make a real difference to the people we support. Every item will go straight to those who need it most.”
The foodbank provides emergency food and support to people in crisis across the Huntingdon and Godmanchester area, with demand continuing to rise in recent years.
Meanwhile, at Premier Hinchingbrooke, located on Cromwell Drive, James took part in the challenge in support of Diamond Hampers, gathering £139.11 worth of goods. The charity supports vulnerable people in the community with care packages and essential items.
He said: “The 60 seconds went so quickly, but it was great to be part of something that will directly help people in our community. Donations like this are hugely appreciated and go a long way.”

Store owner Seelan Thambirajah said the events were designed to give something back locally while celebrating the stores’ latest move.
“We wanted to do something fun but meaningful for the community. The store dash is a great way to support local charities while bringing people together.”
The charity events coincided with the launch of a new rapid grocery delivery service with Snappy Shopper, allowing residents across Huntingdon, Godmanchester and surrounding areas to order essentials to their door in as little as 30 minutes.
Both stores say community initiatives will continue alongside the new service, with further charity partnerships and giveaways planned in the coming months.
Snappy Shopper partners with independent retailers across the UK, helping them grow through home delivery while staying closely connected to their local communities.
