Accomplished vocalists French Connection performed a variety of popular songs in the homes beautiful dining room. Victoria, Caroline and Marion (who was a Tiller Girl, and has performed at the London Palladium, as well as acting on the BBC) met in French Class, and formed the group through a shared love of French language and music. Therefore, they were very happy to share a beautiful song in French; to the delight of our own French speaker Romy. Then we all enjoyed singing along to such classics as Que Sera Sera; before Maron taught us the hand jive for an interactive performance that had us all laughing.

Overseen by head chef Hemanta, staff and residents concluded the afternoon by enjoying a selection of delicious treats dipped into the ever-popular chocolate fountain, including strawberries, raspberries and a variety of different flavoured biscuits to complete the World Chocolate Day experience!

However the highlight for many was when Caroline, who has lived in Iran; spent some time talking in Farsi to resident Sima, who comes from Tehran. She was thrilled to share memories of her homeland and enjoyed looking at recent photos of places that Caroline had visited- it brought back some beautiful memories and to be able to speak Farsi again was something very special indeed.

Senior General Manager, Rebecca Aldred, said: “It wasn’t just the residents that were excited when we found out there was a World Chocolate Day, the eyes of all our staff lit up too.  The chocolate treats were wonderful, and it was so inspiring to see how much joy our multilingual singers brought to our residents.’
