Discovery Primary Academy inspires future healthcare professionals
Peterborough's Discovery Primary Academy, part of the Four Cs Trust, was delighted to welcome Medical Mavericks for an inspiring and interactive visit, giving pupils a unique, hands-on insight into careers within the NHS.

Throughout the day, children took part in a range of real-life medical activities, including taking blood, scanning bones, recording ECGs, measuring blood pressure, and even practising keyhole surgery using specialist equipment. The experience brought medical science to life and encouraged pupils to consider the many exciting opportunities within healthcare.
The visit proved both engaging and educational, with pupils sharing their enthusiasm for the experience.

One pupil described the day as “exciting but educational,” while another said, “it was so cool to see what jobs in the NHS are like.” Others reflected on the eye-opening nature of the activities, with comments such as, “it was so strange to see what the world was like with different eye conditions,” and “fun to explore all the medical equipment.” One pupil even remarked, “I never thought I would take blood from an arm.”
This memorable experience has helped to spark curiosity, broaden horizons, and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals at Discovery Primary Academy.
