Chatteris Town FC scores £15,000 donation from Cambridgeshire homebuilder

Leading homebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes has strengthened its commitment to the local community by sponsoring the redevelopment of Chatteris Town FC's main stand with a £15,000 donation.

The investment has helped transform the club's facilities, providing players, volunteers and supporters with an improved stand that will benefit the community for years to come.

To celebrate the completion of the project, employees from Barratt and David Wilson Homes recently laced up their boots to take on Chatteris Town FC in a friendly football match, bringing together colleagues, players and supporters for an afternoon of community spirit and friendly competition.

Stuart Porter from Chatteris Town FC, said: “We were over the moon to receive this support from Barratt and David Wilson Homes. The club’s stand has been an iconic part of our identity for decades and fills the team with great pride.

“Due to the stand’s age, it was in dire need of redevelopment. At one point we thought it would have to be taken down for good, which would have been a devastating blow.

“Now, thanks to the support of Barratt and David Wilson Homes, the stand is better than ever and will be the perfect place to cheer on Chatteris Town for generations to come.”

The match marked the official reopening of the stand and highlighted the long-standing relationship between the housebuilder and the club, with spectators enjoying the occasion while showcasing the newly improved facilities.

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton, said: "We're delighted to have supported Chatteris Town FC with the redevelopment of its main stand. Grassroots sports clubs play such an important role in bringing communities together, encouraging healthy lifestyles and providing opportunities for people of all ages.

"It was a pleasure for our colleagues to take part in the friendly match and celebrate the reopening of the stand alongside everyone at the club. We hope the improved facilities will serve the community for many years to come and wish Chatteris Town FC every success for the future."
