Burrowmoor Primary Academy celebrates growth and community confidence
"Every new child and family strengthens our community, and we are proud of how far Burrowmoor has come."
Burrowmoor Primary Academy is celebrating a period of renewed growth, investment and community confidence following a remarkable turnaround over the past year.

Last academic year, the school faced significant challenges, with just 24 applications for its Reception intake, leading to reduced class numbers and careful staffing decisions. Today, the picture has changed dramatically. For the 2026–2027 academic year, Burrowmoor is expecting at least 55 new Reception children, more than double last year’s intake, with new pupils continuing to join the school each week.
To support this growth, the Academy has employed three additional teachers, strengthening its capacity to meet the needs of its expanding school community.

Headteacher Ruth Bailey said: “This growth reflects renewed trust and confidence from families. Every new child and family strengthens our community, and we are proud of how far Burrowmoor has come. We remain committed to ensuring every pupil feels welcomed, supported and inspired to succeed.”
The school has also benefited from a £750,000 Department for Education grant, which has funded major infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to site access fencing and the school’s water supply—helping future‑proof the site as pupil numbers grow.
Strong valuable parental support continues through the Friends of Burrowmoor School (FOBS), who are raising funds through events such as bingo nights, clothing banks and cake sales, supporting a range of enrichment projects.
This summer, the entire school will enjoy a whole‑school trip to Ferry Meadows, supported by two rail networks and Fenland County Council, making the journey to Peterborough part of the adventure.
Burrowmoor Primary Academy is proud to be part of the March community and is focused on sustaining this positive momentum for the future.
