A cruise on the Great River Ouse for local care home residents

Residents from Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon were plain sailing with a recent riverside cruise organised by the team at the home. The cruise on the Ladybird River Cruise Boat started from Hartford Marina and sailed along the Great River Ouse, taking the scenic route past local landmarks before finishing at Godmanchester. After the cruise had ended the residents found a shaded area and enjoyed a picnic that had been prepared for them by the catering team at the home.

Katie Wilkinson General Manager of Bayleaf Care Home said: “Our residents had a whale of a time on the riverside cruise. Adventures that take place outside of the home are a regular event for the residents, and we always ask for ideas on where they would best like to go. The day was a lot of fun, residents were able to enjoy a beautiful day on the river which was quite therapeutic, thankfully the weather was stunning!”

Resident Steve Leader said “This was a truly wonderful day. I haven’t been on a river cruise for such a long time and it brought back some lovely memories. The weather was glorious and it was lovely to be able to sit on the deck and enjoy the views.”
