Survival Challenge, Ferry Meadows, February 17

Over-8s can go along and try a mix of bushcraft activities and find out how to survive outside. The session will be based around the elements of survival, shelter, water, fire and food. Learn how to keep yourself dry and warm by building a natural shelter, making a fire and

cooking on the fire.

Pull on your peg leg, polish your eye patch and give Polly a cracker because the pirates are sailing into Sacrewell for February half-term. Throughout the week, visitors are being encouraged to dress up as pirates and jump aboard the pirate ship that will be land-locked in the Small Animal Village. On site, buried treasure will be unearthed as savvy swashbucklers follow clues around the farm, but they had better be quick as there will be real pirates hidden aboard the pirate ship ready to put on a show. Normal farm admission applies.

Gin Festival, College Arms, Broadway, from Feb 14

Gin lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of gins from the UK and overseas during a 17- day festival. It will be serving up to 14 gins from England, Scotland, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Italy. There will be flavoured gins, gin-based liqueurs and a distilled non-alcoholic. The flavours include ginger and cinnamon, fresh strawberry, grapefruit, rhubarb, marmalade, watermelon, berries and orange blossom. Among the UK gins are; Aber Falls Gingerbread Gin Liqueur, Didsbury Gin Strawberry and Sicillian

Lemon, Slingsby Marmalade Gin, Whitley Neill Blackberry Gin and Hawthorn’s London Dry Gin The overseas gins are; Malfy Gin Rosa (Italy) and Mor Irish Gin (Republic of Ireland).

Quiz night, Paston All Saints Church Hall, February 15 (7pm)

Resident quiz master Steve, has put together 10 rounds of questions all loosely related to a topical theme. These quiz evenings have been part of the church’s social calendar for over 20 years and are always a great night out, with lots of fun, laughter and frustration.
