Bryan Adams can't wait to play in front of his Peterborough fans

The star, best known for hits including Summer of 69 and Everything I do, I Do It For You, will play the concert on Friday, August 5.

Mr Adams said: “People can expect two hours of music, and the crowds in Britain are fantastic, and I’m on tour ten days a month year round. That’s what I do!”

The chart topper, is a big ice hockey fan - he even sang the Canadian National Anthem when legend Wayne Gretzky played his last ever game - and said he was disappointed not to be able to see Peterborough’s own hockey team, the Phantoms, play - and it was ‘someone’s suggestion’ to come to Peterborough.

He said: “I’m disappointed not to see the Phantoms, but the gig will be great, and that’s why I’m coming after all.

“Someone suggested it and it seemed like a good idea so we’re coming. I’m touring my new album Get Up at the moment and just released a new single called “Don’t Even Try”.

He also reflected on the loss of music icons this year, including David Bowie and Prince, before giving aspiring Peterborough musicians tips on how to make it to the top.

He said: “It’s really sad to lose colleagues in the music world, I met them both and even did gigs with Bowie in the 90’s in South America. My advice to young musicians is focus on your own music, play lots of shows and have a laugh.”
