Whopping weights again on the Beastie Lake for the Over 55s
With plenty of room on the Beastie Lake for those fishing the Decoy Over 55s match on Friday it turned out to be another high weight affair with the fish feeding well to a number of different methods and baits.
In fact only four anglers failed to make three-figure weights.
Runaway winner was Pete Holland who pulled out fancied peg 30 at the draw and made no mistake.
He caught on cat meat fishing a short pole line and netted some quality double-figure carp plus F1s and barbel for 277lb 5oz.
Chris Saunders claimed the top spot in the series with two matches to spare by winning his section and being second overall off unfancied peg 20 catching carp, skimmers and F1s on cat meat close in for 184lb 10oz.
Third was Keith Rayment on peg three with 178lb 10oz.
JVAC fished their latest match on the Oak Pool on the Decoy complex which saw Chris Saunders take the honours from peg three catching all day close in on cat meat for 129lb 3oz.
Runner-up Steve Smith concentrated on a small feeder approach for most of the day with pellet from peg 16 and finished with 119lb.
Ian Frith came third on peg 22 fishing the pole and pellet approach long, before switching to the margins with red maggot over micros for 116lb 8oz.
There have not been many open matches on the Decoy Lakes over the past few weeks but after Sunday’s result I am sure some of the regulars will soon be back to the complex particularly if they keep putting the open matches on the Beastie Lake, which is now back in top form.
Out in front from peg 13 on the back of the spit was Ben Brighton catching shallow and in the margins for 247lb 10oz.
Second from peg 21 was Rob Goodson, who caught 230lb 5oz on the feeder then the margins. Third was Adam Playford on 190lb.
Fenland Rods fished the in-form Elm Pool over at Decoy Lakes on Sunday which saw Mac Campbell out in front with 130lb 7oz from peg 17.
After a slow start, the fish moved into his swim late on in the match, falling to meat and corn. Second was Kev Lee on peg 14, he had 128lb 10oz, one of his fish going to the scales at 14lb 10oz. Tony Nisbett was third with 124lb 2oz, followed by John Smith with 112lb 15oz.
