Watson's a winner onher competition debut

Young Maisie Watson was a double gold medal winner when three members of the city's JAMA kick-boxing club took part in the recent Northants Open.

Eight year-old Watson, in her first competition, won gold in both her semi-contact and light-contact categories.

JoshuaHood won silver in his light-contact category while chief instructor Lianne Jones won gold in her semi-contact category after a tough final that went to sudden-death.

Her sister and fellow chief instructor Bethany Jones returned after a seven-month break due to injury to claim fourth place in the Under 55kg semi-contact class missing out on third place by just two points.

At the WAKO Junior European Cup in Solihull at the weekend, Bethany Jones won a silver medal after a sudden-death final.

JAMA colleagues Kyle Moore and the Carter sisters Gemma and Elizabeth also represented the club at the WAKO Junior European Cup and won an impressive three medals – two bronze and a silver collectively.
