City of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) star Jamie Scholes celebrated his international call with a hat-trick of gold medals in an invitation meet in High Wycombe at the weekend.

The seventeen year-old has been selected for an England team to compete in the Marseille International Meet later this month and he warmed up with a golden treble at the Wycombe District Swimming Club invitation meet.

COPS head coach Ben Negus said: “These events are crucial to our build-up to the qualification window for the end-of-season National Championships.

“The lack of 50m pools in the East of England makes it a long tiring weekend but the work our swimmers put in during the week gives them the stamina to compete among the best in their age groups.”
