Borough travelled with a mixture of first and second team players plus a couple of colts, while the hosts also experimented with their line-up.

Heavy rain meant many ealy handling errors and a habit of trying to pass out of the tackle also caused problems, but Borough were unstoppabel once they hit their stride.

Manning said: “We were trying to do too much in the rain which was a bit frustrating, but once we settled down there was some good stuff.

“I used the game to take a look at a few of our colts and there was senior debuts for brothers George and Joseph Waitman, and man of the match Nicholas Harris.

“Nicholas was very impressive at scrum half. He showed a few of the senior players how to handle in the rain.”
