Oundle send Channel Islanders packing with power-packed second half display.

A power-packed second-half sped Oundle to an eighth win in eight games in National League 2 East at Occupation Road on Saturday.

Long distance travellers Guernsey competed well in an end-to-end encounter until just before the break when Ewan Baker pounced on an error to score a try. Ben Young added the conversion and a 7-0 half-time lead turned into a 38-8 win against the team who started the day in third place.

The visitors did score the first points of the second-half with a penalty, but Oundle promptly ran in five tries from Rian Hamilton, Ben Brownlie, man of the match Chester Owen, Max Green, and Tom Collins. Young added two further conversions with Matt Arden also kicking one.

Oundle travel to the Channel Islands next Saturday (November 7) to face bottom of the table Jersey.

Oundle seconds romped to a 55-12 win against Newbold on Avon, also at Occupation Road, in a battle of two Counties 1 East Midlands teams, and the club thirds won 50-0 at Aylestone St James seconds.

The club paid to tribute to former player Joey Jacobs before the games. He passed away on Friday.

Elsewhere Peterborough RUFC toppled Olney 27-12 at Fortress Fengate. Olney went into the game with five wins in five games. Report to follow.
