Peterborough Rugby Club’s youth section, the biggest in the area, is throwing open its gates to newcomers this weekend as training for the new season gets underway.
The club runs junior teams at every age from under 7 up to under 16, with girls-only teams at under 18, under 15 and under 13. In the younger age groups, teams are mixed.
“All of our coaches are qualified and DBS-checked and have a real passion for what they’re doing,” said junior chairman Tina Prewer.
“Our doors are open. The first few weeks are without any obligation, and we’re hoping the next Johnny Wilkinson will walk into the club on Sunday morning.
“He or she will be guaranteed a warm welcome if they do.”
The club also plays host to a group for toddlers – aged 18-months up to six years-old – on Saturday mornings.
