But by the interval Borough were on top 12-5 after first new full-back Matt Newman crossed and then centre Michael Bean raced in for Byron van Uden to convert.

Neither side really played that well in the first half, which was full of handling errors and turnovers.

Borough got it together more in the second half. They dominated up front and further tries were added by new scrum-half Richard Chamberlain and Irish second row Michael Kelly, who charged over for two in quick succession.

Van Uden completed the scoring with a penalty.

For Borough, Ben Edwards, Jamie Dingle and Dewi Pearce had good games in the pack while pick of the backs were Bean and Chamberlain.

Oundle were also at home in the same division and they cruised to a 46-17 win over Old Northamptonians.
