World Championship qualifications for local triathletes, personal best blitz from Jarvis and some very long-distance swimming achievements

PACTRAC athletes Jake Siddons and Richard Moys have qualified for the World Championships in Hamburg next year.

They finished fourth and sixth respectively in their age groups at the Dambuster Triathlon event on Rutland Water, a qualifying standard distance triathlon race for Germany, which involved a 1500m swim, 25-mile bike and a 6.25 mile run. Siddons finished in 2:09:59 and Moys in 2:15:41.

Sophie Robotham came 12th overall in the sprint triathlon, just 24 seconds behind the first lady, having been caught on the bike and running out of time on the run after making up plenty of ground. Stuart Neal came second in his age group having led from the gun before he was finally caught in a sprint finish for the line to lose out by three seconds.

Two juniors won their age group at the Derby Triathlon, on a very hard bike course. Byron Stother won the TriStar 1 category from a field of 45, 9-10 year olds, winning by 43 seconds with only two youngsters within a minute of him. Stother took the lead on the bike and never looked back.

Ophelia Goodale won her TriStar2 age group by 24 seconds in 21:06. With both the fastest swim and bike, Ophelia led from the gun.

Mark Bedford competed in ‘The Lakesman’ at Derwent Water for the 7th time, finishing in 5:32:41 on a warm day to record a personal best (PB) time on the course by one minute.

Adam Clark led a quartet of PACTRAC swimmers home in the 5.25 mile Coniston End-to-End Chillswim, with a fifth place in his age group. Julia Kingsley followed two-and-a-half minutes behind with a second in her age group. Harriet Lomas has made some huge improvements this year and finished just 17 minutes behind, whilst Steph Fordham improved on last year’s time by 14 minutes.

Simon Guerin competed in The Great North swim 10km event in Windermere, finishing in just under four hours.

Amy Mellor competed in the East Midlands Regional Open Water Swimming Championships, winning her age group over the 5km swim in 1:27 hours.

MINi SERIES

Henry Jarvis recorded his second PACTRAC Mini-Series win from just two starts. The Werrington Jogger made his second guest appearance, having previously been part of the GB set up in his youth.

Jarvis ran away from the field with a 17:57 5km run - a new course running record, beating Paul Lunn's previous record by 21 seconds. He also recorded the 12th fastest time ever on the course with 47:11 and is now the fifth fastest individual since the new course was established in 2021. Jarvis beat his winning time from his Mini-Series in 2025 by over three minutes.

Jake and Max Daniels finished second and third respectively after recording PBs. Chris Brennan (fourth) and Jacob Richardson (fifth) also finished with PBs.
