The 11 year-old will be regarded as one of the favourites for the first round of the Junior TKM event even though he will be one of the youngest in the field.

That first round takes place at Kimbolton Kart Club next month and Alfie finished fourth in a field of 34 in a recent race at the track as most of the likely British Championship competitors lined up seeking valuable practice at the venue.

Alfie started in fifth position in the pre-final after strong qualifying laps and that’s where he finished despite sneaking up to third at one point.

That meant also starting the main final in fifth and Alfie excelled taking the lead at one point before finishing fourth just half-a-second behind the winner following a terrific scrap.

His best performance of the season at the same venue makes him one of the favourites to win at Kimbolton between September 11-13.

Alfie finished fifth in his latest race at Banbury last weekend.

Alfie has been racing since he was eight, starting at cadet level and he won his first six novice races before becoming vice cadet champion at Huntingdon Kart Racing Club in 2018.

A year later he contested the Whilton Mill Club Championship in Northampton and while holding second spot for much of the year, missed the last three rounds and so dropped down the order.

For 2020 Alfie moved up to the Junior TKM class, a year earlier than most other drivers would usually step up and so far he has had a positive start to the class, claiming four trophy position spots from seven races.

He will compete in the Motorsport UK accredited British Championship with a goal to finish inside the top 10 overall from the three heats.
