‘I’ll be back,’ vows Ulrich, as long as Peterborough Panthers want him! Tungate beats Jason Crump in meeting Down Under

Promoters announced last week they are planning a May 3 start to top flight action this year and every team must now include a British youngster.

Team boss Rob Lyon is in discussions with club consultant Dale Allitt about the options available to Panthers following the inevitable loss of Niels-Kristian Iversen and Rohan Tungate due to new Polish rules restricting how many leagues their riders can appear in.

But club hero Ostergaard insits he is ready to fly in from Denmark and race as soon as the green light is given.

Ostergaard said: “Everyone knows I love Peterborough and everything about the club.

“I really would like to be part of their team plans again and racing in both leagues would certainly benefit my racing. “The club have a few tough decisions to make now following the restrictions put in place in Poland, but I want to be racing for the club this summer.

“I have signed a contract to ride in Denmark again which is good. The season won’t be as long due to the current climate, but I will combine my racing with working full-time.

“I plan to start practice in a month or so to get everything ready for a May start.”

Meanwhile Tungate returned to the saddle in Australia last weekend and romped to victory in the Jason Lyons Solo meeting in Mildura, Victoria.

Tungate got the better of Justin Sedgmen with Ryan Douglas third and another former Panther, Jason Crump, fourth.

Tungate said: “Some of these boys have been racing all summer so I knew it was going to be a tough meeting. Justin (Sedgmen) is so good around this place and when he gets in front he’s tough to pass so I will take that one.

“It’s an honour to win such a big meeting and especially one named after a true Australian legend in Jason Lyons.”
