A dozen children will be attending a swim trial at Deepings Swimming Club after the UK Government lockdown measures allowed swimming pools to reopen.

The club, which trains at Deepings Leisure Centre in Market Deeping, is looking for new members of all ages and abilities, from swim school level six upwards, including adults for its Masters squad, although over 18s will not be able to participate in club swimming until May 17.

The trials, on Friday April 23 (4pm) are an opportunity for head coach Lynn Chapman to assess skills and fitness levels in order to allocate each swimmer to the correct squad.

A handful of spaces are still available and the next trial will take place in June. Email the club at [email protected] for further details.

Swimmers must be confident in deep water and able to swim a minimum of 25 metres on front and back,” Chapman said.

“We are a competitive swimming club which coaches swimmers from age six of all abilities through to national and international standard.”

Since the country went into lockdown in March 2020, the region’s swimmers have spent little time in the pool.
