City crushed rock bottom Leeds 8-1 at Bretton Gate, a second successive victory that has given them a great chance of escaping the drop with three matches still to play.

But there’s no chance of City resting on their laurels as two of their remaining games are against top three teams Cardiff & Met and Bowden. Cardiff come to Bretton Gate on Sunday (March 8, 2pm).

“We played very well again, as has been the case for a few games now,” City manager Graham Finding said. “We have been creating a lot of chances recently, but on this occasion our finishing was much, much better and we put away a high percentage of the chances we created.

“It’s a valuable three points in the battle for survival.”

Leeds are now certain to occupy one of the two relegation slots leaving City to fight it out with Sheffield Hallam and University of Nottingham to aviod the other place.

Chris Clarkson and Nathan Rozario scored twice against Leeds with Nick Beattie, Joe Finding, Adam Wilson and Brendan Andrews also on target.
