A global pandemic didn’t deter local long distance runners from having fun!

Despite the cancellation of the Green Wheel Relay which was due to be run last Sunday, the Peterborough’s distance running community had no intention of letting a global pandemic spoil their fun.

Eye Community Runners organised a ‘virtual relay’ in its place, in which the name of the game was for each individual to cover as much ground as possible in one hour. The event attracted a mammoth 530 athletes who between them covered a distance of 3451.84 miles.

Five Peterborough based clubs were among the 14 entries and a number of local runners delivered fine performances as they strived to be the best at their club

The event raised over £1,000 for the charity ‘Give Back Peterborough’, including a £300 donation from Yaxley Runners.
