Oakey wins his first race of theseason in Cumbria

The 15 year-old 2015 East Midlands junior champion tackled the Ambleside Duathlon Dash and, competing on a much hillier course than he’s used to, raced home first 24 seconds clear of the field to record his first win of the season.

The distances were run two miles, bike eight miles and run one mile. Oakey did it in 44mins 35secs.

PACTRAC almost had another weekend winner in the Lake District as Colin Benn finished the undulating Ulveston Pool Triathlon in second place in his age group.

The race involved a swim of 400 metres, a bike ride of 12.5 miles and a run of 3.5 miles and Benn did it in 91:09 for 136th place overall.

IAAF World Half- Marathon Championship in Cardiff: Mark Wethersby 1:19:09 (PB).

This weekend sees PACTRACers competing abroad in both the Paris Marathon (Amy Hayes) as well as a half-marathon in Holland (Jaap Flikweert & Mariska Niemeijer).

There is still time to enter the PACTRAC Peterborough Duathlon which takes place from Castor on Sunday April 17.

The event involves a 4-mile run, 18-mile bike and a final 2.5-mile run.

Last year saw 63 athletes finish the event, and entries so far have just gone past that figure.

Organisers expect around 100 competitors to race this local event, which is a good introduction to multi-discipline racing in a friendly atmosphere.

The distances are challenging, with the event catering for all abilities.
