Brett (Warboys) has been out of favour since 2012, having appeared in four series, while Morton (Parkway) was ever-present between 2011 and 2015 before being left out.

Morton put his name back in the frame by skipping brother Ean and Mike Robertson to the national triples title last year and then converted that into a British title this summer, which was England’s only success in the British Isles men’s championships.

Following the recent trial, which also included his brother Ean, Morton has been handed a skip’s role, while Brett, who has operated at skip for England in the past, will be playing at two for rising England star Jamie Walker.

Meanwhile Parkway’s Michelle Coleman, who made her England women’s senior debut last year, has retained her place in the team for the series in Jersey next summer.

n The Northants Bowling Federation A and B teams will cross swords at Stamford IBC on Sunday week in the opening Derbyshire Trophy match of the season.

The A team took the honours in this English Bowling Federation inter-county indoor championship fixture last year, but it was a close run thing.
