Butt, who claimed a rapid century for Peterborough Town 24 hours earlier, had stroked five boundaries in his 33 before his departure which left Cambs on 53-1 in pursuit of Beds’ 260.
Beds’ innings had been built around a patient 79 from Andy Reynoldson and 55 from former Cambs opener Ben Howgego.
