MATCH REPORT: Lions roar into the East Midlands Cup final
The Bretton- based side were in semi-final action at Wellingborough and smashed their lower-level rivals 64-3.
The Lions play in National League Division Three while Wellingborough occupy a mid-table spot a tier below in Midlands Division One.

Hide AdWellingborough were stubborn opponents for 40 minutes and at the interval it was just 12-3.
But in the second half the Lions’ superior strength and fitness shone through and they raced in for 10 tries in total.
Will Carrington and Pete Kolakowski both bagged a pair with George Offer, Jack Lewis, Chris Humphrey, Marius Andrijauskas, Conor Crown and Tobo Isiorho also touching down. Carrington added seven conversions.
Promising young prop George Stuffins made his debut after having joined the Lions from city rivals Borough last week.

Hide Ad“Fair play to Wellingborough. They had some hefty lads and they put up a fight in the first half. But our fitness and strength took over in the second half and they couldn’t live with us,” said Lions chairman Andy Moore.
The final will be against Bedford Athletic, also from National League Division Three, on Wednesday April 26 at Bedford’s Goldington Road ground. The Lions won the East Midlands Cup for the first time three years ago.
