Joe Finding (red) scored one and created one for City of Peterborough in Chelmsford.

City started brightly and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession. Man-of-the-match Jordan Heald made some adventurous runs up the right hand side causing the home defence a lot of problems.

The opening goal then came from the opposite side as Joe Finding lashed a pinpoint pass across the ‘D’ for skipper Booth to convert with a one-touch finish.

City soon doubled their lead when Finding converted a short corner and they added a third before half-time as Ben Newman applied the finishing touch to a well-worked move.

Chelmsford were inspired by their half-time team talk and came out in the second half as a far more organised unit. They pushed much higher into the City half which left them vulnerable to the counter attack.

City had chances to increase the lead with Alex Armstrong, Danny Sisson and Will Astbury all going close on the break. However, it was Chelmsford who grabbed the next goal, a defence-splitting pass finding their forward who fired an effort beyond Cameron Goodey in the City goal.

Chelmsford continued to apply pressure late on but the City defence held strong and there were few chances of note for either side in the final 10 minutes.
