Fenland Clarion rider Alison Lilley made a stunning return to action on the boards last week.

Competing in her first indoor track league meeting for 20 years, she claimed two second and two third places at a midweek meeting at the new Derby velodrome to emerge as the early series leader.

Out of a field of 23 riders she was second in the elimination race and the eight-lap dash and third in the 20-lap scratch race and the 20-lap points race.

On the roads Fenland Clarion’s time triallists enjoyed a successful 2015 which culminated in regaining the team trophy in the Northants time trial series. They last won it in 2011.

Jerry Norman was also the winner of the junior category. Regular points scorers Dave Langlands, Steve Kaye and Mark Ingram plus Norman were on hand to collect the trophies at the league presentation dinner.

PETERBOROUGH CYCLING CLUB

Peterborough Cycling Club’s resident professional Steve Lampier has made a terrific start to 2016 on the other side of the world.

The Bourne-based rider finished fifth for his new professional team JLT Condor in the five-stage New Zealand Cycling Classic.

He finished fourth on stage three (the hardest stage) and sixth on stage four.

He now heads to Australia to ride in the Cadel Evans two stage event in Victoria.

Closer to home Jason Burrill, also based in Bourne, was eighth in the scratch race at the Derby velodrome.
