HORSE RACING: Sly just misses out at Cheltenham
Thorney trainer Pam Sly was pipped at the post in a Class 1 race at Cheltenham this afternoon.
Her five year-old mare Actinpieces was beaten by a neck by Katie Too in the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle which offered £11,390 to the winner and £4,274 to the runner-up.
Ridden by Gina Andrews, 8-1 shot Actinpieces finished strongly but couldn’t quite catch the favourite. It was Actinpieces’ ninth start and she has finished in the top three in all but one of those races. She has three wins to her name.
