GYMNASTICS: Louis helps Team GB to European Championship silver
Eye gymnast Louis Smith turned in a perfect performance on the pommel horse to help Great Britian finish second in the men's European Championship team final in Bern, Switzerland, last night (May 28).
Smith and team-mates Nile Wilson, Dan Purvis, Kristian Thomas and Courtney Tulloch recorded a score of 268.427 but it was not enough for gold as Russia successfully defended their title with a commanding score of 271.378.
While Russia and Britain battled for gold, hosts Switzerland managed to hold on to third spot as Ukraine failed to live up to expectations.
Smith competes later today in the individual pommel horse final.
